When life with a toddler gets all crazy woo hoo and I am drowning in plastic toys and books that roar at me, I like to call Time Out and escape to this little piece of paradise, Parkridge Nature Reserve in Brueton Park. With its’ natural walk ways, lovely adventure playground and mud kitchen, it is a wonderful place for some quiet time together. And lucky for us, it is just a short walk away (although with a toddler & scooter it takes three times as long!)
Moma says…. Parkridge have created a wonderful hidden oasis amidst the glorious Brueton Park, where little ones can explore and enjoy what mother nature gave us. Free to enter and open daily, you are free to wander through the 5.5 acres of woodland, follow the trails, past the lake and discover the children’s playground which is always a favourite with us.
I am no bird spotter, however we have seen many a robin, blue tits, a heron, a tree creeper and a great deal of squirrels! And Parkridge boast that the reserve includes Giant Redwoods from the west coast of America and Iron Wood trees from the Middle East too!
Parkridge also run Nature Babies/Tots from the centre here, weekly classes for under 5’s with both indoor and outdoor play.
The outdoor area can be accessed from the nature reserve and offers a fabulous mud kitchen which Baby Town just loves getting stuck into. There’s some great cars and bikes to play with and who doesn’t love pushing a toy lawnmower around eh?!
There is a tea room that serves up hot drinks, cake and ice cream for those hot and sticky days.
Baby Town says…… I love running wild here and making those mud pies.
