It is a right of passage for all parents to experience the magic that is In the Night Garden Live. Baby Town wasn’t yet out of scratch mitts when I fell in love with the dreamy little world of Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy. And so I just couldn’t wait ‘til we reached an age when we could head to the showdome and make some beautiful memories…… Baby Town, Makka Pakka and I.
Those fifteen magical minutes that Cbeebies serves up each and every evening, when we’re on the home straight to bed time and vino o’clock, is quite truly one of the loveliest times of the day as the little boat, no bigger than your hand is off on a journey far away from land. We watch it almost every night and wind down to the ninky-nonk ……… Really, the ninky-nonk?!
I had heard only great things from the live show so it had a lot to live up to. It had been on our bucket list for more than 18 months and so as soon as those tickets were on release, I had booked up and had our little mitts on those bad boys in no time!
In The Night Garden Live takes place in its very own purpose-built showdome and tours the UK each year. It is coming to Canon Hill Park, Birmingham from 7 – 22 July 2018. Booking online is easy and the sooner you book, the better the discount.
Moma Says…… This was our first ‘live show’ experience so I wasn’t too sure how it was going to go. Like most two-year olds, Baby Town sits still for as long as it takes to inflate Upsy Daisy’s skirt! But I had waited long enough and there does come a point where you just have to try them out, see how they get on and well, he far surpassed my expectations. In fact, glued and totally mesmerised were more his thing for that 40-minute performance of magic.
The show itself is so beautifully done, even the puppeteers are just as mesmerising as the characters and puppets themselves. With all the melodies, the characters and sets that we have all come to know and love, it whisks us all away, grown ups and kids alike. But the best bit…… watching the amazement on Baby Town’s face, was as Mastercard says…….priceless. And that after all is what it’s all about.
There are two shows; a Ninky-Nonk show or a Pinky-Ponk show so you get to choose upon booking who your fav is. You also get a choice of times throughout the day meaning you can work around nap times, sibling school runs and everything in between that us parents have to navigate through each and every day! The showdome itself is so clever and designed with pre-schoolers in mind. The majority of seating has been created with just simple tiered levels and no actual seats, allowing the littles to pick a spot and there are no problems with them seeing the stage. They can also make themselves comfortable, spread out a little or simply snuggle up as they watch the show. Even the toilets have toddler steps and toilet seats making even the tiniest of visitor feel welcome!
They have the entire experience down to a tee, seamless and super professional, with little or no queuing, activities to keep the littles occupied and some great merchandise! Everybody loves a Pinky-Ponk helium balloon right?
I would absolutely recommend all parents to treat their littles to this live show this summer. There are a lot of shows out there, and we’ve done a few, but nothing will ever come close to our afternoon In The Night Garden.
We made memories today, very special memories we will never forget.
Baby Town Says…… Wow, I actually saw Upsy Daisy right there! They were real and super close. It was just great to see them and so exciting.
